We had the pleasure of being interviewed by Manchesterfashion. See how it went below:
The Fashion Network: Can you tell us about your career path from school until now?
Phil Pearce: I went to school in Scotland and after school, I managed to get on a HND at Hollings campus MMU studying Fashion Design and Technology. I also got a job/traineeship with bespoke tailor Chris Nicolaou at the Village Tailors, this was the most valuable experience I've had and where I really learnt the craft of tailoring. After that, whilst working in high-end retail I bumped into the owners of Jekyll & Hyde out in Manchester drinking, we talked about their business and my experience of product development. They later invited me to the office where we spoke again, this time sober, and they offered me a job. I became their production assistant and this is where I learnt the trade.
After that I was made redundant and set up my own company called The Works which was my first brand. Within 2 years we were into 550 accounts globally. Then I was approached by the John Adam Fashion Group London who supplied menswear to high street brands including River Island, Next etc. Then that brought me up to 2011 where I set up on my own 3rd partner clothing supplier. It was at this time where I conceived AKA or at the time, Also Known As.
